LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior diver Allison FitzPatrick (Berwyn, Pa./Episcopal Academy) picked up another weekly award on Tuesday as she was named the Patriot League Female Diver of the Week for the second consecutive week. The honor comes one day after FitzPatrick copped the Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week.
FitzPatrick, who earned her first career Patriot League honor last week, combined for three first-place finishes in dual meets against Army and Columbia this past weekend. She is the first Bucknell diver to earn two consecutive weekly awards from the Patriot League since Erika Mannix in 2004-05.
FitzPatrick started a busy weekend off at Army on Saturday with a first-place finish off the three-meter board and a second-place showing off the one-meter. Her score of 235.20 in one-meter competition was a season-best mark and just 1.35 shy of her career-best figure.
Twenty-four hours later Bucknell hosted Columbia inside Kinney Natatorium and FitzPatrick swept the diving events in her final career home meet. She won the one-meter with a score of 232.28, her second-best of the season. Her winning three-meter score of 256.50 was 43 points better than her closest competitor and was less than four points shy of her own school record.
FitzPatrick, who ranks among the top 10 in program history in three diving events, now has eight total first-place finishes this year, including six from the three-meter height. She has swept the diving events in two of Bucknell's last three dual meets.
Bucknell (6-3) split its two meets over the weekend, defeating Patriot League foe Army (183-112) and losing a tight 129-114 decision to Columbia. FitzPatrick and the Bison will be back in action this Saturday, Jan. 23, at Lehigh at 1 p.m.
