LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell swimming and diving teams have a busy weekend coming up as the Bison will travel to Army for a Patriot League dual meet Saturday at 1 p.m. and then 24 hours later will host Columbia inside Kinney Natatorium. Sixteen seniors will be honored prior to Sunday's meet, the final home event of the season for Bucknell.
Saturday's Bucknell-Army meet will broadcast live on Army's KnightVision.
Men's Notebook:
- Bucknell is 4-2 this season and 3-1 against Patriot League foes. The Bison are coming off a 192-96 victory at Colgate.
- Seven Bison men will be honored Sunday during Senior Day festivities: Ben Bible, Brett Carey, Daniel Fletcher, Spencer Hallowell, David Iselin, Ben Leboza and Luke Trafton.
- Bucknell is 4-19 all-time against Army and 0-5 all-time against Columbia. The Bison have faced the Lions every year since 2004-05 and have lost all five. Bucknell has defeated the Black Knights each of the two years. Its win in 2007-08 marked its first over Army since 1975.
- Daniel Fletcher earned Bucknell's lone Patriot League weekly award this season in November when he was named the league's Swimmer of the Week following a performance at the Princeton Open that featured eight top-five finishes and the lone first-place showing by a Bison.
- Bucknell enters Sunday's home meet with an all-time record of 18-12 at Kinney Natatorium. The Bison, who are 1-1 at home this season, will be looking for their second consecutive above-.500 finish at home.
Women's Notebook:
- Bucknell is 5-2 overall this year and 2-2 against Patriot League opponents. The Bison are coming off a 156-142 loss at Colgate. It was the closest Bucknell has come to defeating the two-time defending Patriot League champions since posting a 178-117 triumph over the Raiders in 2004-05.
- Nine Bison women will be honored Sunday during Senior Day festivities: Abigail Atkinson, Rebecca Bersani, Allison FitzPatrick, Eliza Massie, Megan Mongan, Abigail Paules, Lauren Russell, Caroline Walsh and Courtney Warren.
- Bucknell is 12-4 all-time against Army and has won the last eight meetings, including a 180-96 decision last January at Kinney Natatorium. The Black Knights last posted a win over the Bison in October 2000.
- Bucknell and Columbia have met every year since 2005-06 and the Bison are 0-4 over that span. Those are the only four times the two teams have squared off.
- Senior Allison FitzPatrick was named the Patriot League Diver of the Week and Molly Goebel earned Swimmer of the Week honors for their performances last Saturday at Colgate. FitzPatrick swept the diving events against the Raiders, while Goebel was the lone Bison swimmer to win a pair of individual events.
- Sunday's meet will mark the conclusion of Bucknell's 2009-10 home schedule. The Bison have won five consecutive home meets and are 25-7-1 overall at Kinney Natatorium since it opened in 2002-03.
Both Bucknell teams will next be in action Saturday, Jan. 23, at Lehigh. That meet will begin at 1 p.m.
