LEWISBURG, Pa. - Saturday is Community Day at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium, meaning free admission for all fans to the Bucknell-Georgetown football game that is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. It is the Patriot League opener for the Bison, who will be playing at home for the second consecutive week.
In addition to Community Day and the free admission, Saturday is Take a Kid to the Game Day and Junior Bison Club Party Day. The Junior Bison Club Party will take place following the conclusion of the game near the northeast (main) entrance to the stadium and will feature a chance to meet Bison players, obtain autographs, Dress Like a Bison, and enjoy pizza from Domino's. Only Junior Bison Club members will be admitted to the party and there will be special prize giveaways during the event.
At halftime, fans will have the opportunity to watch members of Lewisburg Youth Football play on the FieldTurf of Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
Weather permitting, Bison Land Inflatables will also be set up in the north end of the stadium.
Bucknell (2-2, 0-0 PL) will be going for its fourth consecutive home win Saturday. A victory will move it into a four-way tie atop the Patriot League standings with Colgate, Holy Cross and Lafayette. Georgetown (0-4, 0-2 PL) will be looking to snap a five-game losing streak.
Following Saturday's contest, Bucknell will be home two more times in 2009. The Bison will host Patriot League opponents Lehigh (Oct. 24 - Homecoming) and Holy Cross (Nov. 21 - Senior Day) to close out their home slate.
