LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell field hockey's Jessie Atieh (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex) and Tayler Siegrist (Madison, N.J./Madison) were both honored by the Patriot League on Monday. Atieh was named the league's Goalkeeper of the Week, while Siegrist earned Rookie of the Week.
Both players were integral to the Bison's 2-1 victory over Temple on Sunday. Atieh faced six shots in the game, stopping five of them. She also collected her sixth win of the season, giving her 21 for her career to ranks in a sixth-place tie all-time at Bucknell.
Atieh has played every minute of Bucknell's nine games in goal this year, earning a 6-3 record. The senior co-captain has made 47 saves while facing 119 shots for a .712 save percentage.
Siegrist scored the game-winning goal and notched an assist on the goal that tied the contest in the first half. It was the freshman's second career game with three points. Through nine games, all of which she has started at defender, Siegrist has recorded seven points on two goals and three assists.
The honor is the first of the season for Atieh, who was also named the Patriot League's top goalkeeper once as a sophomore. Siegrist's award is her second of the season. She was recognized as the Patriot League Defender of the Week on Sept. 8.
Bucknell is now 6-3 overall and undefeated at Graham Field. The Bison will try to keep their unbeaten home streak alive in their next game and become the first team in program history to start the season 5-0 at home, facing Lafayette at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3.
