ABOUT THE BISON
- Bucknell spent plenty of time on the field last weekend as both their games went into overtime. The Bison started by pulling out a 4-3 win in a shootout at Columbia on Saturday. After two scoreless overtime periods, Tayler Siegrist (Madison, N.J./Madison) scored the game winner in the second round of strokes. A day later at Sacred Heart, the Bison fell 4-3 in the first overtime, breaking their four-game win streak.
- The Bison received offensive output from a number of players over the weekend. Six Bison scored the team's seven goals. Marci Richard (Oley, Pa./Olley Valley), Christine Weiss (Bethlehem, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and Siegrist notched tallies at Columbia, while Austin Thomas (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock), Caroline Coady (Malvern, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and Morgan Kauffman (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) scored at Sacred Heart.
- Playing back-to-back overtime games was not a first in Bucknell program history but rather the 15th time. The last time it happened was in 2007 when the Bison split with Georgetown and Lehigh. The 1992 squad holds the record in the category. It forced three consecutive overtime games during one stretch, followed by two more sets of back-to-back overtime contests. The Bison were 3-3-1 in those games.
- Weiss recorded the biggest offensive game of her career against the Lions. The junior defender entered the contest without a career goal. She left New York with two scores and an assist, resulting in her first career multi-point game.
- Kauffman is in the midst of a scoring streak. The junior midfielder has registered at least one point in each of the last five games after being shut out in the season opener at Albany. Kauffman leads the Bison with 10 points this season.
- Bucknell has been outdoing its opponents in penalty corners on a regular basis in 2009. Through their first six games, the Bison have earned 74 corners compared to just 42 for their opponents. Opponents also have managed a mere five penalty corners at Graham Field.
ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
- Bucknell leads the all-time series with La Salle by a 17-11 margin. The Bison won 3-1 when they met the Explorers last season. Kelly Bruvik (Skillman, N.J./Stuart Country Day) had a goal, while former teammate Amanda Faust registered two. Current Bison Kauffman and Megan Krebs (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial) earned assists, while Jessie Atieh (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex) finished with 10 saves.
- La Salle has posted a 3-4 record in 2009. In their last game, the Explorers defeated Siena 4-0 last Sunday. Four different Explorers scored goals in the contest.
- Leading La Salle this year offensively is Beth Carey. The junior midfielder has four goals and three assists on the season, both tops on the team. In goal, Ruth Emma has posted a 1.80 goals against average and an .806 save percentage on her way to a 3-4 record.
ABOUT THE WILDCATS
- Bucknell trails Villanova in the all-time series, 6-2. These teams also met last season with the Wildcats shutting out the Bison 2-0. Lauren Wuzzardo and Dana Ramsden, who both return this season, had the goals in 2008.
- Villanova is 3-2 this season with its most recent game ending in a 7-1 win over Appalachian State. Meredith Sabatini had a career-best four goals, while Wuzzardo added a pair of scores and two assists.
- The contest against the Bison will be the first time Villanova has played at home this year.
- With her scoring outburst last weekend, Sabatini shares the team lead with Ramsden in goals scored. Both have four on the season. The Wildcats have split time between two goalkeepers. In the forefront, however, is Megan Goelz who has a 1.52 goals against average and a 2-1 record.
