Bison Duo Named to Patriot League Softball All-Tournament Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Ashley Carlson (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) and Cassie Lloyd (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) were both named to the Patriot League Softball All-Tournament Team recently. The two seniors helped lead Bucknell to a 7-3 victory over Colgate in the tournament.
Carlson led the Bison in tournament action, batting .500 (4-for-8) with a double and a run in three games. The senior outfielder was also outstanding defensively, making a number of difficult plays and an inning-ending diving catch against Lafayette in right field.
Carlson finishes her career among Bucknell's leaders in several categories including second in career games played with 197, third in career stolen bases with 47 and fourth in career runs scored with 98. An elementary education major, Carlson was also named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II Second Team last week.
Lloyd hit .273 with an RBI in three appearances over the weekend. An RBI single in the seventh inning against Colgate on Thursday helped seal the win for Bucknell, while her single in the fifth against Lehigh led to the Bison's first run on Friday.
Lloyd finished the regular-season as the Patriot League's top hitter. The first baseman's .480 average in league play led the Patriot League, making her the fourth Bison to accomplish the feat.
The third seed, Bucknell finished the season with a pair of tournament defeats to Lehigh, 6-2, and Lafayette, 4-1. The Bison's final record for 2009 stands at 19-32 overall and 9-11 in the Patriot League.
