
Bucknell Women's Water Polo Falls to No. 13 UC Santa Barbara, 11-7

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Bucknell women's water polo team played even with No. 13 UC Santa Barbara for one half, but eventually fell to the Gauchos by an 11-7 score Monday afternoon. The Bison saw their three-game winning streak come to an end with the loss.
Bucknell and UC Santa Barbara were tied 5-5 at the half, but the Gauchos outscored the Bison 6-2 in the second half. Bucknell fell to 10-10 on the season with the loss, while UC Santa Barbara won for the seventh time in its last eight contests and improved to 11-6.
Aubrey Rowe (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) tallied a team-high three goals for the Bison, while Kandis Canonica (Burlingame, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep) registered two goals and a pair of assists, bringing her career assist tally to 98. Rowe is now just four points shy of becoming the second player in program history to reach the 300 plateau.
Valentina Rozas (Pico Rivera, Calif./El Rancho) also contributed to the Bucknell offensive attack with one goal and a pair of assists. She also drew two ejections, giving her 56 this year and 198 in her three-year career.
Alison Carter (Costa Mesa, Calif./Newport Harbor) and Rachel McGillis (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) combined for nine saves in goal. Carter's five stops brought her season tally to 99.
Bucknell's loss to the nationally ranked Gauchos was the eighth to a ranked foe this season for the Bison.
Bucknell will be idle Tuesday before returning to the pool Wednesday for a pair of games. The Bison will play Cal State Northridge and Occidental, both in Northridge, Calif.
