BOSTON, Mass. -- Junior Chelsey Musante (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) scored with a seventh-place finish in the shot put, highlighting the first day of competition for the Bucknell women's track and field team at the ECAC Championships and the men at the IC4A Championships.
Musante put the shot 41 feet, 8 1/2 inches to earn All-East honors for the first time. Musante, who won the weight throw and took second in the shot put at the Patriot League Championships two weeks ago, is Bucknell's first All-East performer in the women's shot put.
For the Bison men, junior Andrew Yehl (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) advanced to the final of the 55-meter high hurdles by running a time of 7.66 seconds. That was Yehl's personal best by just .01, as he remains the fourth-fastest performer in program history in that event.
Also for the men, Clayton Smith (Sparta N.J./Pope John XXIII) and Kyle Ramer (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) placed 13th and 19th, respectively in the 1,000-meter run. Smith ran 2:27.45 and Ramer 2:28.53.
Kyle Anthony (Barryville, N.Y./Eldred Central) jumped 22-0 1/4 in the long jump and placed 20th. Bucknell's distance medley relay was 23rd in 10:10.42.
Ryan White (Elkins Park, Pa./Father Judge) is competing in the heptathlon and is in ninth place with 2,694 points through four events.
At the women's meet, freshman Stephanie Fulmer (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X) set a PR in the mile, clocking a time of 4:59.16. Fulmer is now the fifth-fastest performer in program history, and she became the seventh Bison runner to break the five-minute barrier in the mile. She placed 15th in the prelims in that event.
Megan Hathaway (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) ran 1:15.35 in the 500 meters and placed 14th in the prelims. The 4x800 relay placed 16th in 9:13.06 and the 4x400 relay was 22nd in 3:55.67.
Both meets conclude on Sunday.
