LEWISBURG, Pa. - For the second time in as many weeks, the Bucknell field hockey team has earned honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). Thirteen Bison individuals were named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad for earning grade-point averages of 3.30 and higher during the 2008 fall semester.
Last week Bucknell was cited by the NFHCA for posting a team GPA of 3.3 last semester.
Of Bucknell's 22 letterwinners, 13 were recognized on an individual level by the NFHCA. Seniors Sarah Herrmann, Jacquie Kataneksza and Katie Ruiz each earned the fourth honor of her career. The 13 honorees placed Bucknell second in the Patriot League to American's 15.
In addition to the NFHCA plaudits, Bucknell also had 16 individuals land on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll this offseason.
The Bison went 11-8 in 2008 and made their first appearance in the championship game of the Patriot League Tournament since 2000. The 11 wins for Bucknell equaled the second-most in program history.
