
Bucknell Men's Tennis Sweeps Mount St. Mary's 7-0

EMMITSBURG, Md. – With three straight doubles victories and six straight singles wins, the Bucknell men's tennis team rolled through Mount St. Mary's with a convincing 7-0 victory. Bucknell is moving back towards even in the standings with an overall record of 4-6. The Bison handed the Mountaineers their 11th loss of the season (1-11).
Senior captain Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) picked up a doubles and a singles win to move within three overall victories of passing Ira Reibeisen's program record of 145.
Sandburg and sophomore Anton Kovic (Montreal, Quebec/Milton Academy (Mass.)) won in the first flight of doubles over Mount St. Mary's Andrew Marinucci and Patrick Plastow by a dominant score of 8-0. The top Bison pairing has a record of 6-4 this spring. Sandburg and Kovic won against the Mountaineer's first and second flight athletes.
Every Bison player won in both singles and doubles. Sophomore Mark Malloy (Bronxville, N.Y./Hackley School) picked up his 75th and 76th career victories.
Senior Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) brought his team-best season singles record to 8-2 this spring. Bednarek only allowed one game in his match against Sam Walton.
The Bison will be back on the courts against NJIT, on Saturday, March 28, at 12 p.m., on the Fieldhouse Courts.
