Bucknell's Men's Tennis Team Denied By Villanova, 4-3

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's men's tennis team lost a tough one to Villanova Saturday on the Fieldhouse Courts, where it lost 4-3. The Bison fell to 3-6 on the season as they played a home outside match for the first time this season.
Senior Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) and sophomore Anton Kovic (Montreal, Quebec/Milton Academy (Mass.)) picked up Bucknell's sole doubles win against the Wildcats. The first court pairing defeated John Drosick and Alex Leeser 9-8 with a tie-breaker going in Bucknell's favor 8-6.
In singles the Bison split matches with Villanova winning in the first, second and fourth spots, respectively. Sandburg defeated Leeser 6-0, 6-2, Kovic bested Brian Maher, 7-6, 7-4, 2-6, 6-4, and sophomore Mark Malloy (Bronxville, N.Y./Hackley School) beat Trenton Alenik 6-3, 0-6, 6-4.
With two more individual victories (140), Sandburg moved within six overall victories of overtaking Ira Reibeisen's program record of 145 wins.
Next up for Bucknell is a contest against Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md., on Tuesday, March 24; at 3 p.m.
