LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell claimed three of the four Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week honors on Monday, with senior midfielder Perry Menzies (Upperco, Md./Hereford) picked as offensive player of the week, Nick Sciubba (Sea Cliff, N.Y./Salisbury School) as goalie of the week and Charlie Streep (New Canaan, Conn./Loomis-Chaffee) as rookie of the week.
Streep was named the league's top rookie for the third time in the last four weeks, Sciubba was honored for the second time in the last three weeks, and Menzies became the first Bison to earn an offensive player of the week citation this season.
A two-time All-Patriot League selection, Menzies entered the week scoreless in four games this season. But he exploded for six goals and an assist in games against No. 4 Notre Dame and Lafayette just 48 hours apart. He scored twice in the second half of a close game against the Fighting Irish on Thursday, then tossed in a career-high four goals along with an assist in an 18-6 rout of Patriot League rival Lafayette on Saturday afternoon.
Sciubba logged a career-high 16 saves in the Notre Dame game. He was as good as ever in the first half, when he made 10 saves while yielding only two goals against as the Bison took a 3-2 lead into the locker room. Against Lafayette, Sciubba finished with nine saves and four goals against before making an early departure in the third quarter with his team ahead 19-4.
Sciubba's .564 save percentage ranks second among all Patriot League goalies.
Streep had an assist against Notre Dame, then produced his second hat trick and third multi-goal game of the year with three tallies against Lafayette. He ranks second on the team in both goals (8) and points (11) this season.
Bucknell is 2-4 overall and 2-0 in the Patriot League. They will play their fifth ranked opponent in seven games to start the season on Tuesday when No. 18 Denver visits Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium at 4 p.m.
