Bucknell Men's Tennis Falls to Buffalo, 5-2

OLEAN, N.Y. -- The Bucknell men's tennis team fell to 2-3 on the season after a 5-2 loss to Buffalo on Sunday at the St. Bonaventure Tennis Center. Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) was a straight-set winner at No. 5 singles, and the Bison won the doubles point.
Anton Kovic (Montreal, Quebec/Milton Academy (Mass.)) and Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) won 8-6 over Marcelo Mazzetto and Kirill Kolomyts at No. 1 doubles, and at No. 2 Jonathan Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) and Gregg Cohenca (Purchase, N.Y./Rye Country Day School) won 8-4 over Mitch Zenaty and Alex Kalinin.
In singles, Bednarek was a 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) winner over Zenaty at No. 5.
Buffalo won the first three singles matches in straight sets. At No. 4, Mark Malloy (Bronxville, N.Y./Hackley School) and Kristof Custers split the first two sets, and Malloy had to retire in the third-set tiebreak. At No. 6, Bucknell's Gregory Maxson (Mt. Pleasant, S.C./Hotchkiss) fell in a third-set tiebreak to Octavian Stane.
Bucknell is back in action on March 10 at Florida Gulf Coast.
