PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Bucknell's men's tennis team was dealt a loss at Duquesne on Saturday at the Club 4 Life in Pittsburgh, Pa. Bucknell fell to 1-1 this season with the 5-2 loss and look to rebound against Hofstra on Feb. 21 after a two-week break. Duquesne climbed to 3-1 this season.
Freshman Gregg Cohenca (Purchase, N.Y./Rye Country Day School) showed leadership qualities in the four spot to fight back and win after being down 5-2 in the second set of his match against sophomore Kyle O'Leary. He ended up winning 6-2, 7-6.
Senior Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) picked up the only other singles victory in the sixth spot, with a win over senior Jimmy Vogelgesang, which went three sets. Bednarek recorded the victory after sets of 4-6, 6-4, and 10-8.
The sole doubles win came from the three spot where sophomore Mark Malloy (Bronxville, N.Y./Hackley School) and junior Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) defeated junior Mark Maciuch and Vogelgesang 8-4.
