Bucknell Men's Tennis Beats Hofstra 4-3

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Bucknell men's tennis earned its second team victory of the season as it defeated Hofstra 4-3 in Williamsport on Saturday. The Bison sealed the win, sweeping the three doubles matches.
Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) rebounded from a grueling No. 1 singles match against Nenad Radakovic to pair with teammate Anton Kovic (Montreal, Quebec/Milton Academy (Mass.)) for an 8-3 win in doubles. Sandburg's singles contest went the distance with the senior coming back from 6-2 down in the first to take the second set 7-5. Sandburg was unable to maintain momentum, however, falling 10-5 in the deciding set.
Jonathan Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) and Mark Malloy (Bronxville, N.Y./Hackley School) each earned two wins on the day. Brenner defeated Matt Wacks 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. The senior also paired with Gregg Cohenca (Purchase, N.Y./Rye Country Day School) at No. 2 doubles for an 8-5 win over Radakovic and Wacks.
Malloy took the easy 6-1, 6-0 victory over the Pride's Alex Hosner at No. 5 singles. He defeated Hosner for the second time that day with the help of teammate Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) at third doubles.
The Bison closed out their scoring with a win at No. 6 singles. Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) defeated Eric Gladstone at one and love.
Bucknell will have a week off before traveling to St. Bonaventure on Saturday, Feb. 28. The first match in Olean, N.Y. is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
