Bucknell Women's Tennis Sails Past St. Bonaventure, 6-1

OLEAN, N.Y. - The Bucknell women's tennis team defeated St. Bonaventure 6-1 on Saturday in Olean, N.Y. The victory marked the third consecutive win for the Bison and their fifth win in six dual matches this spring.
The Orange and Blue were led by their singles play, taking five of the six matches. Paulina Gamboa (Mexico City, Mexico/Greengates School) kicked things off at No. 1 singles. After a close first set at 7-6, Gamboa had an easier time of it in the second, winning at 6-2 over Manuela Marin. Lauren Lucido (Woodstock, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) also won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, overtaking Maria Barousse.
Gamboa and Lucido teamed up for Bucknell's doubles victory. They again faced Marin and Barousse and were still too much for the duo from St. Bonaventure, winning 8-1. Bucknell earned the point in doubles play after winning the No. 3 spot by default.
Dumitrita Iepuras (Chisnau, Maldova/Germantown Friends School) and Ashley Globerman (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown High School) brought in the other two victories for the Bison at singles. Both won in easy fashion with Iepuras defeating Vanessa Rumpel 6-0, 6-0, and Globerman defeating Eileen Horgan at 6-0, 6-1.
The Bison will remain in Olean, N.Y., on Sunday, March 1 but will face Binghamton. The match is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
