KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- The Bucknell women's golf team posted a final-round team total of 336 and finished 39th out of 43 teams in a star-studded field at the Edwin Watts-Kiawah Island Classic. The event is the largest in collegiate golf this season, and the Bison turned in a solid showing on a championship course after traveling south with very little outdoor practice time under their belts.
Bucknell shot 325-332-336 for a 54-hole total of 993. That was one shot better than Bradley, and also helped the Bison finish above Mercer, Marshall and The Citadel. Miami (Fla.) and Central Arkansas tied for the team title at 904.
Sophomore Katie Jurenovich (Warren, Ohio/Howland) opened with rounds of 77 and 78, then finished with an 83 on Tuesday. She was Bucknell's top finisher in a tie for 87th in a field of 215 players.
Freshmen Minjoo Lee (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) and Kelsey Meybin (Midlothian, Va./Saint Gertrude) both finished up with 82s, while classmate Brittany Rendell (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) shot 89. Junior Leah Antkiewicz (Aliquippa, Pa./Quigley Catholic) finished with a 96.
East Tennessee State's Sinead O'Sullivan and Central Arkansas' Nicole Forshner both shot 1-under 71s on Tuesday and tied for the individual title at 2-over par.
Bucknell will be back in South Carolina in two weeks at the Low Country Intercollegiate in Hilton Head.
