LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell sophomore Alyssa DeLorenz (Garland, Texas/Plano East) was named the Patriot League Goalie of the Week on Tuesday after two outstanding performances in a pair of Bison wins to start the season.
In Bucknell's season-opening 14-5 win over Wagner last Thursday, DeLorenz stopped 10 shots while allowing only the five goals. Then on Saturday in a come-from-behind 9-8 road win at Davidson, she finished with 12 saves. The Bison trailed that game 8-5 at the half, but DeLorenz made five second-half saves and Bucknell outscored the Wildcats 4-0 after halftime to steal the victory.
In the two games last week, DeLorenz stopped 22 of 35 shots on goal for an outstanding .629 save percentage.
The first and only Bucknell women's lacrosse player to come from the state of Texas, DeLorenz is in her second season as the team's starting netminder. She ranked third in the Patriot League in save percentage (.424) last season and was named the league's Goalie of the Week once in 2008 while playing every minute of the season in goal.
Bucknell puts its 2-0 record on the line when it travels to Penn State on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m.
