Bucknell to Host Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships this Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. - For the fourth time since the facility opened earlier this decade, Kinney Natatorium will serve as the host for the Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships. The event will take place this Thursday, Friday and Saturday (Feb. 19-21). The prelims will take place each morning, beginning at 10:30 a.m., while the finals will take place each evening, beginning at 6 p.m.
Bucknell's men's team has won one Patriot League title (2003), while the Bison women claimed four consecutive crowns from 2003 to 2006. Last year, in Annapolis, Md., the men placed second to the host Mids, while the women were third, behind only Colgate and Navy. The last time the Bucknell men finished outside the top three spots was 2005, while the women have not placed lower than third since 2000.
The Bucknell men finished the regular season 7-2 overall and were 5-1 against Patriot League competition, while the women went 7-3 overall and 4-2 in Patriot League meets.
The Bison men return six All-Patriot League selections from last year, including first-team choices Gonzalo DeLeon, Mark Kawczenski and Luke Trafton. Additionally, third-year head coach Dan Schinnerer earned his first PL Coach of the Year citation last season.
On the women's side, eight all-league honorees return, including Megan Mongan, Lauren Russell and Courtney Warren, who each earned first-team citations last February.
All-session tickets for this week's Patriot League Championships are $30, with a heat sheet included in the price. Admission prices for individual sessions are $5 for trials and $7 for finals.
