LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's Morgan Kauffman (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) was named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Region Second Team, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced Thursday. Kauffman led Bucknell field hockey with 21 points and 11 assists last season, while helping the Bison to a share of the Patriot League regular-season title for the first time in program history.
The individual honor is the not the first of the postseason for Kauffman. The junior midfielder was also voted Second Team All-Patriot League at the conclusion of the regular season and earned a spot on the Patriot League All-Tournament Team.
Kauffman's 11 assists this fall gives her 25 in her career, ranking fourth all-time at Bucknell. She also holds the second and third spots on the program's single-season assists record list for her production in each of the last two seasons.
Kauffman started the 2009 season with a six-game point streak, including four contests in which she posted two or more points. Her junior campaign ended just as successfully, as she earned points in three of her final four games. The final stretch included a three-assist outing at Colgate and a career-high four points on a goal and two assists in the season finale against Holy Cross.
Bucknell finished the 2009 season at 12-7 overall and 4-1 in the Patriot League, sharing the league's regular-season title with American. The Bison were seeded second in the Patriot League tournament, after which Kauffman and Christine Weiss (Bethlehem, Pa./Southern Lehigh) were named to the All-Tournament Team.
