LEWISBURG, Pa. - Coming off a double win on Homecoming weekend, the Bucknell men's and women's swimming and diving teams will host Duquesne and Saint Francis (Pa.) on Saturday at 2 p.m. inside Kinney Natatorium. The women will take on both Duquesne and Saint Francis, while the men will square off against only the Dukes.
Both Bucknell squads handily beat George Mason last weekend. The women posted 185 points to George Mason's 115, winning nine of the 16 events and taking 1-2-3 in three. The men won seven of the 16 events and beat the Patriots 166-132. The victories helped both Bison teams begin the season with a 1-0 record.
Duquesne's men's team has also only had one scored meet this season. The Dukes lost to Buffalo by a close 123-114 margin. The women's team, also having only competed against Buffalo, has a 0-1 record. They lost 137.5-75.5. Saint Francis (Pa.), on the other hand, is deep into its season posting at 3-0 record. The Red Flash has beaten Cleveland State, St. Bonaventure, and Mount Saint Mary's.
The Bison men have beaten the Dukes the past two years. The women fell to them in 2007, but in 2008 claimed the victory posting a score of 174-120. Bucknell's women's squad defeated Saint Francis the past two years, including 240-63 last season.
The Bison will start their two-week road trip next Saturday at 12 p.m in Lejeune Hall in Annapolis Md. There, the men and women will take on Patriot League foes American, Lafayette and Navy. Bucknell will be home again the first weekend in December for the Bucknell Open.
