LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell field hockey's Tayler Siegrist (Madison, N.J./Madison) was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday. The freshman tallied an assist in the Bison's win over Colgate before helping her team to a 1-0 overtime shut out at Cornell last weekend.
Siegrist earned her fifth assist of the season on a goal by Megan Krebs (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial) in the second half at Colgate on Saturday. The Bison went on to defeat the Raiders 4-2 in that contest. Siegrist's strong play continued the next day at Cornell as the defender helped Bucknell to its second shutout of the year.
Siegrist has 11 points in her freshman campaign coming on three goals and five assists, leading all Bison newcomers. She has twice netted game winners, once in a stroke-off victory at Columbia and again versus Temple. With that total, Siegrist shares the team high with Morgan Kauffman (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) and Austin Thomas (Tunkahnnock, Pa./Tunkhannock).
The top rookie honor is the third of the season for Siegrist. She has also been named the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
Bucknell, which is 11-6 overall and 3-1 in the Patriot League, will wrap up its regular season on Saturday, Oct. 31 when it hosts Holy Cross at 12 p.m. at Graham Field. The Bison are tied with American for first place in the league and will be attempting to qualify for their second consecutive Patriot League Tournament.
