LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell softball head coach Heather Rakosik will be inducted into the Muskingum University Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, Oct. 24. Rakosik starred in basketball as well as softball throughout her four years with the Muskies and was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Clyde Lamb Scholar-Athlete as a senior.
On the hardwood, Rakosik joined Muskingum's 1,000-point club with 1,378 career points and set a school record in single-game points with 37. She also set a school record for most 3-pointers made in a game with eight. A two-year captain, the Toledo, Ohio, native was selected to the All-Great Lakes Region Team in 1997-98, the All-OAC Second Team in 1996 and 1997, and the All-OAC Academic Team in 1998.
Rakosik equaled that success on the softball field, helping the Muskies to the OAC Championsip in 1995. She was also named to the All-OAC First Team in 1994 and All-OAC Academic Team in 1996.
Rakosik graduated cum laude from Muskingum in 1998 with a degree in health and physical education as well as a K-12 teaching certificate.
Rakosik will enter her sixth season as the Bison's head coach this spring. During that time, she has amassed an 88-153-1 record, giving her the second-most wins in program history. Through her first five years at the helm of the Bison, Rakosik has coached nine players to First Team All-Patriot League plaudits and six other players have earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors.
Her squads have also consistently been recognized for their success in the classroom with the most recent award coming for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association earlier this month, as the Bison were named an NFCA girls got game All-Academic Team.
