LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell junior forward Patriot\ League\ Offensive\ Player\ of\ the\ Week and the Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday after leading her team to a sweep of Patriot League rivals Lehigh and Lafayette over the weekend.
Matlack, who earned Patriot League weekly honors for the second time in the last three weeks, scored both goals in a 2-0 Bucknell victory over Lafayette on Friday night. The first strike came just five minutes into the contest, a terrific shot into the upper right corner of the goal. With a steady rain falling in the second half, Matlack scored again on a header after a great cross from teammate Chelsea McGorry.
In Sunday's 3-1 win over Lehigh, Matlack assisted on what proved to be the game-winning goal. With the Bison up 1-0 in the early stages of the second half, Matlack gathered a loose ball near the end line and chipped a perfect pass to Kelliann Doherty in the goal mouth. Doherty volleyed it in for a big insurance goal.
Matlack now has five goals and two assists for a team-high 12 points on the season. With 21 career goals, Matlack is now tied for eighth on Bucknell's all-time list with Savannah Rennels and Leigh Raymont. The assist against Lehigh was the 11th of her career, and that moves her into the top 10 in Bucknell history in that category.
She is now tied for second in the league in points per game and ranks fourth in goals per game.
Matlack and the Bison will be back in action on Saturday, taking on Patriot League rival Navy at 1 p.m. at Emmitt Field at Holmes Stadium.
