LEWISBURG, Pa. – For the third consecutive week, Bucknell field hockey has placed multiple players on the Patriot League's list of top players. Kelly Bruvik (Skillman, N.J./Stuart Country Day) was named the League's Offensive Player of the Week, while Tayler Siegrist (Madison, N.J./Madison) was selected the Rookie of the Week on Monday.
Bruvik earned her first career weekly honor by scoring a pair of goals against Lehigh on Saturday. It was the junior's first multi-goal game of the season and helped secure a 4-3 victory for the Bison. Bruvik also registered her team's only shot on goal in a tight 1-0 loss to Lock Haven earlier in the week.
Bruvik enters the next round of competition with three goals on the season. By being named the Patriot League's top offensive player, she becomes Bucknell's third different player to earn the award this year. Morgan Kauffman (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) and Corinne Raczek (Ocean Township, N.J./Ocean Township) also collected the honor earlier this season.
Siegrist is no stranger to the weekly awards list. The freshman defender now has been named Rookie of the Week twice and Defensive Player of the Week once this year. Siegrist's latest accolade comes on the heels of a three-point performance at Lehigh in which she scored the game's first goal and assisted on Bruvik's game-tying score.
With 10 points this season, Siegrist is tied with Christine Weiss (Bethlehem, Pa./Southern Lehigh) for third place on the team. She and Bruvik become the eighth and ninth Bison this year to be recognized by the Patriot League for their outstanding play.
The Bison head into a new week at 8-4 overall and 2-0 in the Patriot League. After facing off against Penn State at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in University Park, Pa., they will return to Lewisburg for American and Georgetown over the weekend. Bucknell is 5-0 at home this year, marking a program record on its home turf.
