LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's Rebecca Bersani (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) did not compete during the fall semester, but is making up for lost time as she earned her second Patriot League Female Diver of the Week award in the last three weeks on Tuesday. A junior, Bersani posted a first-place and a second-place finish on Saturday in a lopsided win over Lehigh at Kinney Natatorium.
Bersani won the three-meter competition against the Mountain Hawks, marking her first victory in that event this season after three previous top-three finishes. Her score of 247.58 was a season-high mark and was just 1.37 behind her career best.
In the one-meter event, Bersani scored a 221.85 to take second to teammate Allison FitzPatrick. It was Bersani's third top-three finish in four tries off the one-meter board this season.
Bersani, who has now earned three career Patriot League Diver of the Week awards, will be back in action this weekend when the Bison host the Bison Invitational. It will be the final tuneup before next month's Patriot League Championships. American and Navy will be the opponents for Bucknell, which is 7-3 overall and 4-2 in Patriot League dual meets.
