LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell track and field athletes Andrew Yehl (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown), Chelsey Musante (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) and Christina Muccio (Andover, Mass./Andover) were each awarded with Patriot League weekly awards on Wednesday. Yehl earned the Male Track Performer of the Week, while Musante brought home her second consecutive Female Field Performer of the Week award. Muccio was recognized as the Female Rookie of the Week.
All three athletes helped their respective teams to first place finishes at the Bucknell Heptagonal on Saturday, the first scored meet of the indoor season. Musante earned an individual victory in the weight throw, finishing ahead of the rest of the competition with a toss of 52 feet, one inch. The junior thrower's success continued in the shot put with a throw of 40-9, good enough for third place.
Muccio had a strong outing in the early goings of her Bucknell career, finishing in first place in both the 55-meter (7.31 seconds) and 200-meter (26.08) dashes. The freshman sprinter's time in the 55 meters places her fifth on the list of top finishes in program history.
On the men's side, Yehl completed his 55-meter hurdle race in second place with a time of 7.67 seconds. The finish was good enough for an IC4A qualifying time and the fourth-best time in Bucknell history. The junior also finished sixth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.21 seconds.
The trio of awards follows five previous league accolades this season. Joining Musante among previous winners are Evan Novakowski (Male Track Performer), Kyle Anthony (Male Field Performer), Rebecca Frey (Female Field Performer) and Dan Mularz (Male Rookie).
The Bison are back in action Friday, Jan. 30 and Saturday, Jan. 31 for the Bison Open & Multi. The meet will be held at Gerhard Fieldhouse. The Orange and Blue can also be seen at the Penn State Invitational the same weekend.
