Bucknell Women's Swimming & Diving Loses at Columbia, 155-88

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's swimming & diving team lost to Columbia, 155-88, on Sunday, Jan. 18, in New York, New York. The Bison, competing for the second consecutive day after defeating Army at Kinney Natatorium on Saturday, are now 6-3 in dual meets during the 2008-2009 season.
Bison sophomore Macey Keath (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) won the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in five minutes, 8.69 seconds. This was the first time that Keath has participated in the 500 in her collegiate career. Keath also participated for the first time in the 1,000 free, and she finished in third place (10:37.58). Keath accumulated 12 of the Bison's 88 points.
Bucknell freshman Kristen Bucaria (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) picked up 11 points for the Bison, winning the 200 breast (2:31.68) and placing fourth in the 200 IM (2:15.82). Lauren Russell (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) placed third in the 200 breast (2:34.91), fourth in the 200 fly (2:15.93) and fourth in the 200 back (2:12.43), earning the Orange and Blue nine points.
In relays, the Bison quartet of Molly Goebel (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan), Sarah Suchoff (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon), Megan Mongan (Malvern, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and Alexandra Lovallo (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) won the 200 free in 1:40.29, while Courtney Warren (Montour Falls, N.Y./Watkins Glen), Kelly Morris (Metuchen, N.J./Metuchen), Sarah Pease (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin Senior High) and Mongan finished second in the 400 medley (4:01.29). Goebel also finished second in the 100 free (54.00).
The Bison received seven points in diving from Allison FitzPatrick (Berwyn, Pa./Episcopal Academy) and another four from Rebecca Bersani (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport). FitzPatrick finished second in the three-meter (213.68) and third in the one-meter (227.02), while Bersani finished third in the three-meter (208.50) and fifth in the one-meter (200.77).
The Orange and Blue return to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 1 p.m., hosting conference rival Lehigh at Kinney Natatorium.
