LEWISBURG, Pa. - After posting back-to-back shutouts of Robert Morris and Marist over the weekend, Bucknell junior Kathryn Sutton (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) has earned her second Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week award of the season.
Sutton equaled a season high with eight saves in Friday's 1-0 victory over Robert Morris. Most of those stops were on long-range shots, but she did come up with a tricky save on a skipping shot on the wet turf to preserve a 1-0 lead with 7:40 remaining in the game.
In Sunday's 2-0 win at Marist, Sutton made two saves en route to her fifth shutout of the season. That figure tied the Bucknell single-season record, also held by Katie Dry (2006) and Becky Snover (1995).
Sutton now has nine career shutouts, which ties her with Dry for third-most in Bucknell history. Snover holds the career mark with 12.5, followed by Laurie Purse with 12.
Sutton, who also earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors on Aug. 25, has played every minute in goal for the Bison this season. She has a 6-3-2 record along with a 1.40 goals-against average and a .754 save percentage.
The Bison bring a four-game unbeaten streak (3-0-1) into Saturday's Patriot League showdown at Navy. The two teams met in the 2007 league championship match, with Navy prevailing 1-0.
