LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell field hockey team will play Saint Francis (Pa.) at Graham Field, on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. The Bison (4-3) enter the game with a 2-1 home record, while the Red Flash (1-6) are 0-4 so far on the road.
Bucknell lost its last game, falling 4-0 at Lock Haven on Sunday. Prior to that, the Orange and Blue had won two games in a row and four of their last five. Part of that streak was a win by the Bison in their last game at Graham Field, 3-2, against Cornell on Sept. 13.
Amanda Faust (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) leads Bucknell and the Patriot League in scoring with 14 points. Her five goals lead the team and place her in a tie for second in the league, while Faust's four assists have given her sole possession of Bucknell's all-time assist record with 28. Morgan Kauffman (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) leads the league in assists with six.
Corinne Raczek (Ocean Township, N.J./Ocean Township), who has three assists this year, was chosen by the Bucknell coaching staff as its player of the game for her effort against Lock Haven on Sunday. Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Zargarpour (North Vancouver, Canada/Handsworth Secondary) will be making her first career start against the Red Flash. Zargarpour played during the second half against Longwood earlier this season, saving two of the three shots she faced. The Bison defeated Longwood, 4-1.
This game marks the third consecutive game that Saint Francis (Pa.) has played a Patriot League school. The Red Flash lost by scores of 3-0 to Lehigh and Colgate. The standout game for the Red Flash this season was their 5-2 home win against Bryant. Belen Albanes scored three goals, while Julia Baczeski and Julia Moore each scored one.
Erin Reifsteck has played every minute in goal this year for Saint Francis (Pa.). She has faced 96 shots, and is averaging 9.57 saves per contest. Reifsteck has a .698 save percentage.
The Bison will host Siena on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 12 p.m. This will be an Orange Crush game, where all Bison fans are encouraged to wear orange to support Bucknell. The game will also be available to watch through Bison Vision at www.BucknellBison.com. Doug Birdsong will be handling the live play-by-play.
