LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell sophomore forward Christa Matlack (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) earned Patriot League Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday after her five-point weekend helped the Bison to a 1-0-1 weekend.
Matlack's most dramatic moment thus far was her goal with 29 seconds left in regulation that lifted Bucknell to a 1-0 win over Temple on Friday night at Varsity Soccer Field. The goal came on her ninth shot of the evening, as she was a force all game long up front against the Owls.
On Sunday, Matlack registered a goal and an assist in the first half against Loyola (Md.) in what turned into a 2-2 tie with the Greyhounds.
Matlack missed the first three games of the season due to a leg injury, and she came off the bench against Rutgers in the team's fourth match. But since then she has been on a roll, registering a point in each of the last five games. Matlack now has four goals and two assists for 10 points in six games. She is tied with teammate Jennifer Dervarics for the Patriot League lead in points per game (1.67), and she is tied for second in goals per game.
Bucknell is now 4-3-2 on the season and will next play on Friday at home against Robert Morris at 7 p.m.
