Field Hockey's Amanda Faust Honored by Bucknell and Patriot League

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Amanda Faust (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West), senior co-captain of the Bucknell field hockey team, was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday. Faust led the Bison to a 3-2 win over Cornell on Saturday, scoring two goals and assisting on the team's third.
It was the third five-point game of Faust's career, the other two coming against Colgate on Oct. 14, 2006, and Monmouth on Sept. 1, 2007. Faust received the league's offensive player of the week award following each of those games, as well as a defensive player of the week award in Sept. 2007, and Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors in Oct. 2005.
Faust is tied for the Patriot League lead in scoring with Lehigh's Kelly Fox, both with 10 points through their team's first five games. She ranks second in the league in assists with four, behind only teammate Morgan Kauffman (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) who has five. Faust is one of six players in the conference who has scored three goals this season, including classmate Katie Ruiz (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area), tying her for third place.
The 2005 Patriot League Co-Rookie of the Year, Faust was named First Team All-Patriot League in 2006 and 2007, while achieving second team honors her freshman season. Each of the last two seasons, Faust has been selected to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Mideast First Team. This past year Faust was part of the High Performance Squad selected by the Pennsylvania High Performance Training Center, an organization that works to identify and train potential players for the Unites States national team.
Faust, an accounting major, is steadily climbing up Bucknell's all-time statistical charts, ranking first in assists (28), tied for 10th in goals (21) and sixth in points (70). She set the program assist record during the Bison's 4-2 win over Ball State earlier this year. Her assist total currently ranks seventh in league history.
Faust and the Bucknell field hockey team next play on Friday, Sept. 19, in Philadelphia, Pa., against La Salle. It is one of two upcoming road games for the Bison, who will play Lock Haven on Sunday, Sept. 21. The next chance to see the Orange and Blue at Graham Field is on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m., against Saint Francis (Pa.).
