Series Notes
- This will be the first meeting between Bucknell and Maryland in women's soccer.
- The Bison are 0-2 all-time against Rutgers, including a 2-1 loss last season and a 3-2 setback in 1995. Both previous meetings were in Piscataway.
- Last Sept. 5 at Yurcak Field, then-12th-ranked Rutgers rallied from a second-half deficit to defeat the Bison 2-1. Christa Matlack put Bucknell on the board first in the 57th minute with her first career goal, but the Scarlet Knights tied it in the 68th minute, when a defensive miscue led to Rheanne Sleiman's tally. Eleven minutes later, Gina Demaio scored on a free kick to give Rutgers the 2-1 lead. Kathryn Sutton made 10 saves to keep Bucknell in the game.
About Maryland
- Maryland (1-0) is ranked third in the NSCAA/adidas Mid-Atlantic Region rankings, and in the national rankings the Terrapins are second among "others receiving votes."

- Last season a young Maryland team finished 6-9-3 overall and 1-8-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
About Rutgers
- The Scarlet Knights opened up with a 3-1 home victory over George Washington on Saturday, scoring three times in the second half to erase an early deficit. Kristie Lang, Alicia Hall and Ashley Jones all scored goals, while Kristen Edmonds had two assists.

- The Scarlet Knights lost only four letterwinners from last year's team that finished 9-9-3 overall and 4-5-2 in the Big East. Gina Demaio (5g, 2a) is the team's top returning scorer.
- Former Rutgers All-American Carli Lloyd, the program's all-time leading scorer, scored the winning goal for Team USA in the recent Olympic gold medal match against Brazil.
Opening Weekend
- The Bison enjoyed an unbeaten opening weekend on the road, starting with a 3-0 blanking of UMBC last Friday followed by a 1-1 draw with Saint Francis (Pa.) on Sunday.
- Bucknell dominated UMBC in the opener, allowing only three shots all day. Jennifer Dervarics and Nicole Marotta scored less than two minutes apart in the first half to stake the Bison to a commanding lead, and Chelsea Brinkman, who assisted on the Marotta goal, tacked on an insurance tally in the 73rd minute.
- At Saint Francis, the Bison trailed 1-0 until Dervarics struck with just 4:07 left in regulation, off another assist from Brinkman. Bison goalkeeper Kathryn Sutton came up big, making two key saves to keep it a 1-0 game, then stopping two more shots in overtime.
- The Bison yielded only one goal - on a breakaway - in 200 minutes of action. On Monday, Sutton was named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week and sophomore Caitlin Holtz was named the PL Defensive Player of the Week.
