LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell softball team led the Patriot League with 12 student-athletes named to the league's Academic Honor Roll, it was announced Wednesday. Last year the Bison tied for the top spot with Lehigh.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's six winter or 10 spring championship sports.
Headlining Bucknell's selections to the Academic Honor Roll were senior Erin Curatola, the 2008 Patriot League Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and sophomore Lauren Trosch, who was one of two softball players in the league to achieve a 4.0 grade-point average.
A total of 50 softball players across the Patriot League were named to the Academic Honor Roll. Holy Cross had 10 honorees, joining the Bison as the only teams to have a double-digit amount of selections. Colgate was third with nine Academic Honor Roll members, while Lafayette (7), Army (6) and Lehigh (6) rounded out the list.
