Bucknell Field Hockey Travels to Barbados for Foreign Tour

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell field hockey team departed on Tuesday, May 20, to Barbados for the first-ever Bison field hockey foreign tour under head coach Heather Lewis. The trip was organized through Harvard Sports Management Group, and will consist of the Bison playing four games against international competition in addition to taking part in several highlighted tourist activities.
The seven-night (eight-day) trip began on Tuesday, when the Bison departed out of Philadelphia with a connecting flight through Miami. The Orange and Blue arrived in Barbados at 10 p.m., on May 20, and are set to return on Tuesday, May 27.
Bucknell is scheduled to play four games during its stay. The Bison face a Club Select Team on Wednesday, May 21, the Barbados Junior National Team on Friday, May 23, a second Club Select Team on Sunday, May 25, and the Barbados Junior National Team again on Monday, May 26.
In addition to playing field hockey, the Bison are also prepared to partake in several tourist activities. The team will take an Island Safari on Thursday, May 22, will go to the Catamaran Cruise to swim with the turtles on Saturday, May 23, will attend the Harbour Lights Beach Party and Dinner Show on Monday, May 26, and will also go Island shopping throughout the tour.
Accompanying the 16 players of the Bucknell field hockey team in Barbados is head coach Heather Lewis and assistant coaches Michelle Marks and Melissa Bostwick. Additionally, trainer Tiffany Thompson and staff member Barb Dugan are traveling with the team.
