BETHANY BEACH, Del. -- The Bucknell men's golf team is off to a good start at the George Washington Invitational, as the Bison shot 304 in cold, windy conditions on the Delaware coast on Friday and stand in a tie for second place among 20 teams.
The event was scheduled for 27 holes Friday and 27 more on Saturday, however darkness left most of the field on the course before 27 holes couls be completed on day one.
Rahul Desai (Avon, Conn./Kingswood-Oxford) shot an even-par 72 to lead Bucknell in the opening 18 holes. That puts him in a tie for second place, just one off the individual lead.
Host George Washington posted a 301 to take a three-stroke lead over Bucknell and Penn. Rhode Island shot 305 and Maryland 306. The Bison are well in front of the other Patriot League teams in the field. Navy and Lehigh both shot 318, Colgate shot 335 and Lafayette 346.
Complete individual standings have not yet been released. Check back later for further updates.
