Bucknell Women's Golf Saves Best Score for Last at Pinehurst Challenge

PINEHURST, N.C. -- Emily Chiodo (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) shot a team-low 80 and the Bucknell women's golf team posted its low score of the week with a final-round 326 at the Pinehurst Challenge, which wrapped up Tuesday at Pinehurst No. 8.
Bucknell finished in 21st place as a team with a 54-hole total of 989, five shots better than Marshall. East Carolina finished with a 295 to set a tournament record with a total of 910 and came from behind to win the title by 10 shots over East Tennessee State.
Bucknell counted four scores of 83 or better in the third round, led by Chiodo's 80. Amy Loughney (Macungie, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) turned in her best card of the week with an 81. Freshman Katie Jurenovich (Warren, Ohio/Howland) shot 82, giving her the team's best 54-hole score of the tournament (243).
Deirdre Moran (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) shot her third straight 83, while Kristen Phalen (Duxbury, Mass./Tabor Academy) shot 86.
Steffi Kirchmayr of College of Charleston shot a tournament-record 3-under 69 to win the individual title by four strokes over Emelie Lind of East Carolina. Maryland's Kally Calkin also shot 69 in the final round.
Bucknell will continue its Spring Break tour with a trip to Hilton Head Island, S.C., later this week, then the Bison will be back in action on Apr. 5-7 at the Susie Maxwell Invitational at the University of Oklahoma.
