LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Hope Foster (Washington, D.C./Dunbar) was named the Patriot League Women's Basketball Player of the Week Monday after averaging 17.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in two Bison victories last week. She became the first Bucknell player to earn a weekly award from the Patriot League this season.
Foster opened the week with her 16th career double-double, tallying 11 points and 10 rebounds in a 68-45 victory at Lafayette. She then equaled her career high with 24 points in a 31-point victory at Colgate. Foster also added nine rebounds in that triumph. In the two games, she connected on 13 of 19 field goals and was 9-for-12 from the free throw line.
With her 35 points last week, Foster increased her career point total to 1,212 as she moved into 12th place in Bison history. She is now just 32 points shy of tying Kate Franks for ninth place on the program's scoring list.
The Preseason Patriot League Player of the Year, Foster now leads the Bison in scoring at 12.0 points per game. She also paces the squad, and is among the Patriot League leaders with 6.8 rebounds per game. Foster, who ranks 24th in NCAA history with 324 blocked shots, leads the Patriot League with 67 blocked shots this year.
Foster and the rest of her Bucknell (12-14, 7-5 PL) teammates will close out the regular season this week when they host Lehigh (Wednesday) and Army (Saturday) at Sojka Pavilion.
