LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell freshman Sarah Zargarpour (North Vancouver, Canada/Handsworth Secondary) was named field hockey's Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday. The goalkeeper made 12 saves against 14 shots this past week, playing 90 minutes, 54 seconds against Saint Joseph's and Lafayette.
Zargarpour played the second half against the Hawks on Tuesday, Sept. 30, and recorded seven saves to combine with teammate Jessie Atieh (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex) for a 3-0 shutout. It was a single-game high in saves for the freshman goalkeeper.
Against the Leopards, Zargarpour played the second half and into the second overtime, before the Bison fell 2-1. She recorded five saves, including three in the first overtime to prolong the game, before Lafayette scored the game winning goal at the 90:54 mark.
Zargarpour has played 195:54 minutes this year, making 15 saves. She has a 1-1 record, and recorded a shutout against Saint Francis (Pa.) earlier this season. She has a 1.07 goals against average and a .833 save percentage.
The Bison field hockey team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 11, hosting Lehigh. The game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m., at Graham Field at Holmes Stadium.
