BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Bucknell men's and women's cross country teams ran at the 35th Annual Lehigh University Brooks Paul Short Run, in Bethlehem, Pa., on Friday, where the women's team placed 12th out of 43 teams in the 6K. The Bison men finished 26th out of 45 competing schools in the 8K.

The women's team from No. 9 West Virginia won the meet with a score of 47. Villanova placed second with 78, and No. 16 Baylor came in third with 94. The Bison scored 430, second among Patriot League schools participating in the meet. Navy finished 10th overall, with 292 points.

Bison freshman Stephanie Fulmer (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X) finished 55th out of 301 female participants, with a time of 21 minutes, 37 seconds. The scores of the top-five runners from each team count toward the team score. Fulmer's classmate, Caitlin Cavanaugh (Danville, Pa./Danville Area), placed 89th, finishing the race in 22:02, just ahead of sophomore Sarah Moniz (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet Regional), who officially finished 90th with a time of 22:02. Alaina Chodoff (96th, 22:08) (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) and Gillian Nordquist (100th, 22:10) (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) rounded out the scorers for the Bison, while Alexa Griffiths (122nd, 22:29) (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua) and Nicole Falcaro (149th, 22:48) (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Delaware Valley) also competed in the top women's event. Marie-Louise Asselin of West Virginia was the individual meet champion, pacing the field with a time of 19:38, 19 seconds ahead of Neely Spence of Shippensburg.

No. 6 Wisconsin won the men's race, scoring 52 points. No. 30 Syracuse placed second (96) and two-time defending champion No. 25 Villanova finished third (173). Patriot League teams Army (466), Lehigh (469) and American (482) placed 14th through 16th. Bucknell finished with a team score of 683.

Junior co-captain Andrew Huebner (Hampton Falls, N.H./Governor Dummer Acad.) placed first for the Bison and 71st overall with a time of 24:55. Fellow co-captain Clinton Orloski (Bulter, Pa./Slippery Rock) ran the race in 25:17, finishing 117th. Conor McNamara (149th, 25:37) (Baldwin, N.Y./Chaminade), Donald Sanner (168th, 25:48) (Meyersdale, Pa./Meyersdale) and Stephen Dorsey (178th, 25:56) (North Wales, Pa./La Salle High School) also scored for Bucknell. Bison freshman Dave Brown (179th, 25:56) (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) and junior Kevin McGoldrick (222nd, 26:32) (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) rounded out the field of seven that ran for Bucknell. Sam Chelanga of Liberty ran a 23:05, tops of the 298 men competing in the event. Andrew Ledwith of Iona finished second with a 23:43.

Bison men and women who did not compete in the main race had the opportunity to run in the jayvee race. Bucknell senior Joe Foley (Howell, Mich./Flint Powers Catholic) finished 42nd in the 8K with a time of 25:44, the best time of the 18 Bison runners in the field of 434. In the women's jayvee race, freshman Kelly Grosskurth (Huntington Station, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) finished 26th out of 368 runners, with a time of 22:33 to pace the 18 female Bison.

Bucknell's next meet is the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, N.J., on Saturday, Oct. 18.
