LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell senior co-captain Jennifer Dervarics (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) returned to her home area over the weekend and showed off her scoring prowess in a pair of Bison victories over Lehigh and Lafayette. For her efforts, Dervarics was rewarded with her second Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week citation of the season on Monday.
It was a six-point weekend for both Dervarics and her team. The Bison earned six standings points after defeating Lehigh 2-0 on Friday and Lafayette 4-1 on Sunday. Dervarics assisted on Christa Matlack's game-winning goal in the win over the Mountain Hawks, then she tallied five points on two goals and an assist in Lafayette win.
In Sunday's game Dervarics scored twice in the first half to stake the Bison to a commanding 2-0 halftime lead, then she assisted on an insurance marker in the second half.
The reigning Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year now has 12 goals and six assists for 30 points on the season. That is her exact ledger from last season, when she set career highs across the board. Dervarics continues to lead the Patriot League in both goals and points, and she also ranks in the top 30 nationally in both categories.
In the Bucknell record book, her 91 career points, 36 career goals and 19 career assists all rank No. 3 all-time. Dervarics also lists No. 5 in both goals and points on Bucknell's single-season charts.
Bucknell has now had at least one Patriot League weekly award winner in seven out of 10 weeks this season, and six different Bison have been honored.
A member of Bucknell's all-time winningest senior class, Dervarics has now helped the Bison win 10 or more games in four straight seasons for the first time in program history. The 10-5-2 Bison visit Princeton in a non-league game on Wednesday before hosting American in a key Patriot League game on Saturday at 1 p.m. That will be the final game of the regular season, and Bucknell can clinch a Patriot League Tournament berth with a win or a tie against the Eagles.
