LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell field hockey player Amanda Faust (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) was recently named to the 2008 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I All-Star team. A senior co-captain of this year's Bison team, Faust leads the Orange and Blue in goals (nine) and points (28), and earlier this year she broke the program's all-time assist record. She now has 34 career assists, which place her fourth in Patriot League history.
Faust was selected by the Pennsylvania High Performance Training Center to represent the state on its High Performance Squad in May. She also has been honored as a First Team Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Mideast selection in both 2006 and 2007.
Faust is a two-time First Team All-Patriot League selection (2006, 2007), and was named Second Team All-Patriot League in 2005, while also receiving Patriot League Co-Rookie of the Year. She has won league offensive player of the week honors three times in her career, including once earlier this season when she was also named Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week, and defensive player of the week once.
A recipient of the team's Sally Keith Award for Character last season, Faust has spent the 2008 season climbing higher and higher up the charts of the Bison's all-time record book. With 88 career points, Faust ranks third in program history in scoring, while her 27 goals place her sixth in that category. With 10 assists this season, Faust became the first player in Bucknell history to record double-digits in assists in two separate seasons. She also had 10 in 2006.
An accounting major, Faust has helped to lead the Orange and Blue to their most successful campaign since winning 14 games in 1999. The team has a 10-6 overall record, and has split four games against Patriot League opponents. With a win on Saturday, Nov. 1, against Holy Cross, the Bison will definitely secure a spot in the Patriot League Tournament for the first time since 2006. Bucknell still has a chance at being the tournament's No. 2 seed.
The Bison will travel to Worcester, Mass., for their contest with Holy Cross on Saturday. The game is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. The Patriot League Tournament starts on Friday, Nov. 7, in Washington, D.C. American has clinched the league's regular-season title, and will serve as host for the two-day tournament.
