Bucknell Swimming & Diving Honored for Academic Achievements

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's and women's swimming & diving teams were recently recognized by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as Academic All-American Teams. The Bison men's and women's teams had a combined grade point average of 3.320, ranking seventh among all NCAA Division I teams. Dartmouth's swimming teams had the top-ranking with a 3.580 combined GPA.
Following Dartmouth was Yale (3.552) and Lafayette (3.440). Bucknell and Lafayette were two of seven Patriot League schools recognized by the CSCAA.
The Bison men's team placed 10th among all Division I men's teams, with a cumulative GPA of 3.250. Dartmouth finished first among the men with a 3.600 GPA, while Lafayette led all Patriot League schools with a 3.370 GPA, placing fourth overall.
Bucknell's women's team placed 20th, with a GPA of 3.390, while Yale had the top-ranking women's team (3.603 GPA).The women's team from Lafayette led the Patriot League, and placed sixth overall, with a 3.510 GPA.
In order to be recognized, team's need a minimum GPA of 3.000. One-hundred twenty-five different teams met the requirement, including 81 women's teams. Last year, the Bison placed 36 swimmers and divers on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, the most of any Patriot League school.
The Bucknell swimming & diving teams start their home schedule on Saturday, Oct. 25, hosting Boston College at Kinney Natatorium. The dual meet is scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
