LEWISBURG, Pa. - Two teams looking to move up in the Patriot League women's soccer standings square off Saturday evening when Colgate pays a visit to Holmes Stadium to face the Bison. Game time is 7 p.m., immediately following the Bucknell-Colgate men's game.
Bucknell, the two-time defending Patriot League regular-season champion, lost its second overtime heartbreaker of the season last week, falling 1-0 to Army after controlling play for much of the day. That, coupled with a 1-0 setback at Navy, has the Bison sitting at 1-2 in the league and tied with Holy Cross for fifth place.
Colgate, meanwhile, is 2-1 in the league, with 1-0 wins over American and Holy Cross and a 1-0 loss to Army. The Raiders would put themselves in outstanding shape for a playoff berth with a victory over the Bison.

About Colgate
- The Raiders are 5-8-1 overall, but they are 4-2-1 in their last seven after starting the year 1-6.
- Colgate has been outscored 27-15 in 14 games this season. The Raiders have allowed the most goals in the Patriot League, but in their last three games have yielded only a single goal, that coming in the 1-0 loss to Army last Friday.

Both teams defeated Marist (Bucknell 2-0 on the road, Colgate 1-0 at home), and Bucknell played Saint Francis (Pa.) to a 1-1 tie on the road, while the Raiders lost to the Red Flash at home in overtime, 4-3. Colgate has also played Princeton (a 2-0 home loss), a team the Bison will face on Oct. 29.
About Last Weekend
- The Bison went 1-1 last weekend, blanking Holy Cross 3-0 on Friday night before falling 1-0 to Army in overtime.
- Jennifer Dervarics tormented Holy Cross yet again, scoring Bucknell's first two goals and assisting on Kelliann Doherty's first tally of the season.
- Dervarics has six goals and three assists in her four career games against Holy Cross.
- Kathryn Sutton made three saves en route to her sixth shutout of the season, a new school record.
- On Sunday, the Bison and Black Knights were scoreless through 90 minutes, despite a 14-7 shot advantage for the Bison. But Army capitalized on Bucknell's only defensive crack of the day, and Dymon Washington scored in the second overtime period to keep her team unbeaten in league play and tied with Navy atop the league standings.
About the Bison
- Bucknell is now 7-5-2 on the season, and it needs three more victories to reach double figures in the wins column for the fourth year in a row.
- Bucknell has not given up a regulation-time goal in any of its last five games. The last team to score against Bucknell in regulation was Loyola (Md.) back on Sept. 21.
- Kathryn Sutton logged her sixth shutout of the season in the Holy Cross game, breaking the Bucknell single-season record. Current assistant coach Katie Dry in 2006 and Becky Snover in 1995 had five clean sheets in a season.
- In recognition of her record, Sutton was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week.
- Caitlin Holtz earned her league-leading eighth assist of the year last Friday, and that is tied for second-most in a season. Hall-of-Famer Lisa Gibbons, who had a record 19 assists in 1994, also had eight in 1992.
- Bucknell is averaging 1.79 goals per game, second in the Patriot League to Navy (2.13).
- Colgate (86) and Bucknell (82) rank 1-2 in the Patriot League in corner kicks.
- Dervarics continues to lead the Patriot League in goals (9) and points (21).
- Christa Matlack ranks third in the league in points per game and fourth in goals per game.
- Holtz is one assist ahead of Navy's Christine Calderon for the league lead.
- Sutton is tied with Army's Alex Lostetter for the Patriot League lead with six shutouts.
Bison Milestones
- Dervarics pulled within one goal and one point of former teammate Krista Lee Gentile for third place on Bucknell's career lists. Dervarics now has 33 goals and 82 points in her career.
- In addition to breaking the Bucknell single-season shutouts mark, Sutton now has 10 in her career. That moves her into sole possession of third place on the career chart.
- Sutton also remains in sole possession of second place on Bucknell's career wins list with 17. The only Bison keepers with more wins are Dry, Laurie Purse and Becky Snover, all with 30.
