Bucknell Field Hockey Takes To The Road To Face No. 17 Delaware

LEWISBURG Pa. - After wins at home over Monmouth and Towson, the Bucknell field hockey team (3-1) is set to face No. 17 Delaware on the road Saturday. The match-up is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
Bison Field Hockey Notebook
On the No. 17 Delaware Blue Hens -
- Delaware will face Rutgers at home on Friday at 4 p.m. before hosting Bucknell Saturday.
- Heading into this weekend, the Blue Hens hold a 4-0 record on the season, defeating then-No. 13 Ohio State, Kent State, Richmond, and Longwood on the road.
- In four games, Delaware has scored 11 goals off 39 shots (.282 shot percentage), scoring an average of 3.54 goals a game. The Blue Hens have allowed three goals off 26 opponent shots, as two of their four wins were shutouts (4-0 over then-No. 13 Ohio State, 1-0 over Richmond).
- Senior Molly Burke is the leading point-scorer for Delaware, with eight (4g) followed by junior Casey Howard with seven (3g, 1a). Burke is also the Blue Hens' leading scorer on the year (4g).
- Redshirt junior goalkeeper Nikki Rhoades has made eight saves and allowed two goals (.800 save percentage) in 229:58 minutes of play, while redshirt senior goalkeeper Megan Allen has recorded one save and allowed one goal (.500 save percentage) in 50:02 minutes of play.
- Friday's game between the Blue Hens and the Scarlet Knights will mark Delaware's first home match-up for 2007.
On the Bison Against Towson Last Tuesday -
- Bucknell topped Towson, 4-3, on Sept. 4 with the winning goal coming by sophomore Megan Krebs (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./GAR Memorial) off a crossing pass from senior Kelly Hoffman (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) with 1:01 left in the second half.
- The Bison had the first goal of the game at just 3:29 into play, by junior Trina Boyer (Macungie, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) off an assist from junior Amanda Faust (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) for her second of the season.
- At the half, the score was an even 1-1 due to the Tigers' Danielle Wacker tipping the ball in the net at 10:27.
- Just 2:26 into the second period, Towson took a 2-1 lead when Kristie Blumer scored from the left side.
- In the last 15 minutes of play, five goals were scored, three of which by Bison players.
- Inside 15 minutes remaining, junior Jacquie Kataneksza (Harare, Zimbabwe/Arundel School) netted the equalizer off her own rebound, tallying her second goal of the season, and leveling the score at 2-2.
- With under 11 minutes to play, the Bison were awarded a penalty stroke after a scramble in front of the cage. Hoffman took the stroke and scored into the left side of the net, for her second of the season and a 3-2 Bison lead.
- Shortly after (63:18), Towson's Kajee Murangi tallied her third of the season, hitting a hard shot from the left side, tying the score once again at 3-3.
- Krebs' third goal on the year, at the 68:59 mark, put the Bison ahead 4-3 for the win.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Jessie Atieh (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex) made a career-high nine saves for the Bison and sophomore Sarah Ebright (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) recorded a defensive save in the first half.
- Towson goalkeeper Michelle Cheek made five saves in the contest.
On the Bison in 2007 -
- Bucknell is now 3-1 on the year, picking up wins against Kent State, Monmouth, and Towson, while suffering a loss against then-No. 13 Ohio State.
- The Bison are currently second in the Patriot League with a .750 winning percentage. Bucknell trails American (4-0, 1.000) and is ahead of Colgate (1-2, .333), Holy Cross (1-2, .333), Lehigh (1-3, .250), and Lafayette (0-2, .000).
- Overall, Bucknell has scored 16 goals off 55 shots (0.291 shot percentage), netting an average of 3.95 goals per game. In addition, the Bison have allowed 13 goals off 50 opponent shots.
- Krebs is the leading point-scorer for Bucknell with eight (3g, 2a) and ties Kataneksza for goals scored on the year (3g).
- Hoffman tops the list for shot percentage, as she scored two goals off two shots (1.000).
- Atieh has made 21 saves (0.618 save percentage) in four games for the Bison, with a career-high nine saves against Towson.

- Following this weekend on the road, the Bison will have four consecutive games at home. Bucknell will host Lock Haven on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m., LaSalle on Friday Sept. 14 at 6 p.m., Saint Francis (Pa.) on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m., and Georgetown on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 12 p.m.
