OLEAN, N.Y. -- Senior Stuart Lindgren (Richfield, Minn./Richfield) continued his stellar season, and Rahul Desai (Avon, Conn./Kingswood-Oxford) and Brian Poe (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) also turned in solid rounds, but for the second straight day the Bison had to count a score in the 80s and finished in ninth place out of 14 teams at the Leo Keenan Invitational, hosted by St. Bonaventure.
The Bison shot 300 as a team on Monday after an opening-round 304, and they finished one shot behind eighth-place Siena.
Lindgren shot a 1-over-par 71, one shot better than his first-round score, and he finished in a tie for fourth place at 143, only three shots behind individual winner Tyler Brewington of Rider. Coming into this fall season, Lindgren's top career finish was T-8th and his best collegiate score was 75, but he has now finished 1st/4th the last two weeks and has five straight rounds of 72 or better. He lowered his season scoring average to 72.4.
Desai had also been solid all year for the Bison but had an uncharacteristic opening-round 80 here on Sunday. He bounced back with a 73 in the second round, however. Poe also played well, shooting 73-74 to finish in a tie for 16th place.
Also for the Bison, freshman Andrew Wallisch (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) shot 79-82 and senior Keita Aoki (Tokyo, Japan/St. Mary's International School) shot 85-85.
Host St. Bonaventure made a remarkable comeback to win the team title. The Bonnies were tied for fifth, nine strokes off the lead, entering the day, but they shot a 3-over 283 to win by five shots over runner-up Duquesne (585). Cornell (587) took third, followed by Robert Morris (591), Rider (592), Ottawa (593), Long Island (600), Siena (603) and Bucknell (604). Niagara (609), Canisius (610), St. Bonaventure "Brown" (617), Saint Francis (Pa.) (623) and La Salle (643) rounded out the field.
Bucknell will be back in action next Saturday and Sunday at the Cornell Invitational.
