Bucknell Field Hockey Faces Saint Francis (Pa.) At Home Tuesday

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell field hockey team will play the third of four consecutive games at home Tuesday, when it hosts Saint Francis (Pa.) at 7 p.m. The Bison (4-3) are coming off a 1-0 win in overtime against La Salle this past Friday at Graham Field.
Bison Field Hockey Notebook
On the Red Flash -
- Saint Francis (Pa.) is 0-6 on the season. Three of the Red Flash's losses came against Patriot League teams (Holy Cross, 5-0; Lehigh, 3-1; Colgate, 4-1).
- The Red Flash have scored four goals off 36 shots and have allowed 21 opponent shots this season. Saint Francis (Pa.) holds a shot percentage of .111 and has allowed an average of 4.50 goals a game.
- Junior Belen Albanes leads the Red Flash with five points (2g, 1a) followed by senior Leigh Ann Conroy and freshman Heather Tiernan with two points each (1g).
- Junior goalkeeper Erin Reifsteck has made 89 saves for the Red Flash and has recorded a save average of .809.
- Last season, the Bison faced the Red Flash at Saint Francis (Pa.) and won, 10-2 on Aug. 29.
On the Bison Against La Salle Friday -
- Sophomore Megan Krebs (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./GAR Memorial) put the Bucknell field hockey team ahead of La Salle in the extra period, 1-0, after a scoreless 70 minutes of play Friday night at Graham Field.
- Krebs scored her fifth goal of the season off an assist from junior Amanda Faust (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) that gave Bucknell the win and brought the Bison to 4-3 on the year.
- La Salle (4-4) out-shot Bucknell 16-11, but at the end of the second period neither team had netted the ball, forcing overtime.
- Less than three minutes into the extra period, Krebs' shot on goal was saved, but she went on to score off a crossing pass from Faust with under a minute left to put the Bison ahead, 1-0.
- Sophomore Diana Bartley (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) made eight saves off the Explorers' eight shots on goal, for her first game of the season. La Salle's goalkeeper, Ellen Axelson made four saves for the Explorers, off Bucknell's five shots on goal.
On the Bison in 2007 -
- Bucknell is 4-3 on the season, picking up wins against Kent State, Monmouth, Towson, and La Salle. The Bison suffered losses to then-No. 13 Ohio State, then-No.17 Delaware, and Lock Haven.
- The Bison have won three of the four games played at Graham Field this season.
- Bucknell has scored 21 goals off 82 attempts for a .256 shot percentage. The Bison have scored an average of 2.89 goals a game, have allowed an average of 3.16 goals a game, and hold an overall save percentage of .641.
- Krebs leads the Bison with 13 points (5g, 3a) and is the leading scorer on the season with five goals. She holds a shot percentage of .357, scoring five goals off 14 shots. She has also recorded two game-winning goals.
- Senior Kelly Hoffman (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) and Faust follow Krebs with nine points (4g, 1a) and eight points (2g, 4a), respectively.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Jessie Atieh (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex) has played six games this season, recording 33 saves, a save percentage of .589, and goals allowed average of 3.80.
- In her first game of the season, goalkeeper Bartley made eight saves for the Bison, recording a save percentage of 1.000.
- Bucknell is tied with Colgate for second in the Patriot League (as of Sept. 17) with a 4-3 record and winning percentage of .571. American is in first with a record of 8-0 and a winning percentage of 1.000.
Looking Ahead -
- The Bison will host Georgetown on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 12 p.m., before taking to the road on Sept. 29 for Bucknell's first Patriot League match-up of the season against Lehigh.
