Bucknell Men's Tennis Opens Three-Day Weekend At Brown

Day One Results
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Bucknell men's tennis team finished the first day at the Northeast Tournament at Brown, with junior Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) and junior Jonathan Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y., Chaminade) defeating top-seeded Sam Garland and Noah Gardner of Brown in the No. 1 doubles flight.
Sandburg and Brenner topped Garland and Gardner, 8-6, and will face Brett Kraft and James Murphy of Lafayette tomorrow. Sandburg also defeated the top-seeded player in the No. 2 singles flight. He finished ahead of Tim Wu of Harvard and will play Christian Coley of Marist on Saturday. Brenner also went on to win his singles match against Antonio Oliver of Marist, 6-4, 6-4, in the No. 4 flight. He will play James Murphy of Lafayette tomorrow.
In the first singles flight, Ira Reibeisen (Armonk, N.Y./Rye Country Day-Upper School) fell to Loic Sessagesimi of Marist, 6-3, 4-6, 6-0, and is set to play Jeff Cote of Rhode Island on Saturday.
Sophomore Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) won his match against Justin Seow of Farleigh Dickinson, 6-4, 6-2, in the No. 3 singles flight, and will face Trenton Alenik of Villanova in the next round tomorrow.
Freshman Mark Malloy (Bronxville, N.Y./Hackley School) played in the sixth singles flight and defeated James Sparacio of Lafayette, 6-3, 7-6. Malloy will face Scott Schulman of Brandeis on Saturday.
In the seventh singles flight, senior Ben Young (New Canaan, Conn./Canaan) defeated Mayer Kassety of Brandeis, 6-3, 6-1, and will move on to play James Pellechi of Colgate.
Reibeisen and Hascoe paired in the No. 2 doubles flight to defeat Peter Luck and Gregory Marks of Marist, 9-7. The duo will play Jonathan Pearlman and Charlie Posner tomorrow. In third doubles, Young and Malloy fell to Collin Laffey and Steve Kopf of Niagara and are set to play Justin Haar and James Sparacio of Lafayette in the next round.
The Northeast Tournament at Brown will continue tomorrow and run through Sunday.
