LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell sophomore A.J. Kizekai (Pawtucket, R.I./Blair Academy) became the first Bison football player to pick up a Patriot League weekly honor in 2007, as he was named the league's special teams player of the week on Monday.
Kizekai, also a starting slotback, had his second straight big game returning kickoffs in Saturday's loss to Stony Brook. He totaled 167 return yards on six attempts, an average of 27.8 yards per return. Including his 44 rushing yards and 40 receiving yards, Kizekai racked up 251 all-purpose yards in the contest.
A week earlier he logged 260 all-purpose yards (156 on kickoff returns) in a victory over Duquesne, and Kizekai currently leads all Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) players in all-purpose yards at 255.5 yards per game.
Kizekai played in eight games as a freshman and ranked second on the team in rushing with 441 yards. He was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week after rushing four times for 82 yards and two touchdowns in a road victory over Marist. This is his first season as a regular kick returner.
Bucknell (1-1) will be back in action this Saturday at Cornell at 7 p.m.
