LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Josh Linthicum, a rising junior on the Bucknell men's basketball team, is about to embark on a 10-day tour of Holland and Belgium with the East Coast All-Stars, a team made up of college players from across the nation.
The team, which is coached by Stony Brook assistant Guy Rancourt, is scheduled to depart from New York City on Tuesday and spend five days in Holland and four in Belgium before returning home on Aug. 16. Seven games are on the busy docket, starting with Thursday's opener against the Dutch National Team. The team will also have numerous sightseeing opportunities in Amsterdam, Brussels and elsewhere throughout the trip.
Linthicum, a 6'11" center from Farmington, N.M., lettered in each of his first two seasons with the Bison. Last year he played in 21 games, averaging 3.5 minutes per game off the bench. He made 5 of 13 shots from the field and finished the year with 13 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots.
Linthicum's teammates on the East Coast All-Stars include representatives from the Atlantic Coast Conference, Big 12, Southeastern Conference and Big East, among others. The rest of the team includes Alvin Bray (St. Joseph's), Steven D'Agostino (Saint Rose), Bryan Davis (Texas A&M), Anthony Farmer (Rutgers), Jaron Griffin (Rutgers), Brett Harvey (Loyola), Landon Milbourne (Maryland), Zach Peacock (Georgia Tech), Rio Pitt (Stony Brook) and Perry Stevenson (Kentucky).
This is the second European Tour for the East Coast All-Stars, which is organized by Basketball Travlers, Inc. Last summer the squad visited Denmark and Sweden.
